01 Aug - here's looking at you kid!

Ok so we're not having the best of luck with our travel!  So far we've missed a flight, had an annoying delay and now we've had our bags lost!  More about that soon.

After another slow start, we packed up our bags and headed to the airport for the next leg of our journey- Casablanca.

At the check in, we ended up behind a gentleman with incredibly bad BO.  Unfortunately we were in the queue for about 20 minutes, by which time we were gagging just a bit!!!

Whew, we got through that ok we thought.  What's the chances of sitting next to the smelly man that was queuing for his ticket?  Surely not!  But oh noooooooooo, we end up sitting right behind him on the plane.  At that stage we should have guessed that today was going to be one of those days......

Arriving in Casablanca, we felt pretty excited about visiting a country that we haven't been to.  We disembark on to the tarmac and then get shuttled to the terminal.  We really noticed the heat when we hit the tarmac - much hotter than Barcelona!

After safely negotiating customs and immigration, we excitedly head for the baggage claim area to find a few other travellers waiting for their bags.  And so we wait..... and wait........ and wait........

Tempers start to fray somewhat after 30 mins or so.  Nobody seems to know what's going on.  About two hours later and loads of shouting and swearing (not us - the locals), it's very clear that around 20-30 of us have had our bags mislaid and still nobody is sure exactly what's happened to them.

Contact details left with the airport, we head to our hotel with the prospect that we'll probably never see our bags again.  There's nothing more that we can do.  We have each other, money, passports and a place to stay.  At worst we'll be doing some shopping tomorrow for some essentials before we head off on the tour the following morning.

We headed out to dinner at an excellent Moroccan eatery - beautiful cous cous and tangine vegetable dishes.  Really subtle spices that were delicious, all of which was washed down with Heineken and Moroccan Sauvignon.

Back to the hotel for some sleep.  I think tomorrow could be a long and frustrating day.
