Wednesday 22 July - moving day

Leaving Cindy behind to pack up and clean up, I headed off in the morning to pick up a rental car from St Pancras station.  Whilst getting to the train station was simple, finding the car hire place, in an underground car park, with no signage whatsoever, was a bit challenging.  For a big city, that runs exceptionally well, some of the little things like getting a hire car sorted can be difficult and frustrating.  After the half hour process of getting the car sorted, it was off to pick up Cindy and Jack.

All I can say is thank god for Mr Google and GPS maps.  It's funny how things change. When we lived here we managed to successfully drive ourselves in and around London without getting lost.  Who remembers the classic London A-Z?  A brilliant book that's helped people get around for years.  Sadly those days seem to have gone, but thank god for GPS!

Once I'd got back to the flat and picked Cindy and Jack up, the next challenge of course was to find a place to park and leave the car for a few hours while we met up with Grace and Michael in town.  Bloody hell!!!!!  You'd think there would be parking spots all over the place, but oh nooooooooo there isn't!  We finally found a car park at Hampstead Heath close to the train station.  Can someone please develop an app that directs you too the nearest car park!

From there, Cindy went into town to spend some time shopping with Gracie at Selfridges, while me and Jack had a nice full English breakfast before meeting up with Michael for a pint.

Later we met up with the girls, then it was back to the car and up to Flitton, about an hour drive north of London, where Steve (Cindy's brothers) and Jillian live and the location of their daughters wedding.

They live in a great spot.  Right next to the church where Livvi and Joe will get married, which is right next to a beaut little pub, the White Hart.  They've done such a great job in the wedding prep so far.  Their house is on a huge section (over an acre) and they've erected a massive canvas marquee in the back yard which will be where the wedding reception will be held.  There's 80 guests coming and the marquee could easily accommodate that and more.

It was great to catch up with all the family over a meal and a few ales.  We couldn't stay up too late as Steve, Cindy, Livvi, Eleanor and Holly were getting up at 4:00am the next day to head into New Covent Garden to pick up the flowers for the wedding.
